I am a Canadian freelance illustrator based in Berlin. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with a focus in Illustration from Emily Carr University. I’ve worked as an illustrator since 2014 on a variety of projects for private clients and companies.
I am especially interested in creating narrative illustrations, children’s books and merchandise, home decor, portraits, and greeting cards.
Projects I have worked on include logo design, comics, children’s book illustration, editorial illustration, package design and portraits.
I am skilled with traditional mediums such as charcoal, pencils and ink and also digital illustration (Procreate, Adobe Photoshop).
When I am approached with a project I begin by clarifying the expectations and scope of the project. If it seems like a good fit then I proceed to write up an estimate of hours and costs. If the client and I agree to the terms, then I move forward to create a series of thumbnails and sketches with various ideas for the illustration. This is my favourite stage of the process! Once the client has chosen a sketch, I make a revised sketch and colour suggestions. Changes often need to be made, this is completely normal and there may be 2-3 rounds of sketches before I begin the final artwork. I am committed to making sure my clients are 100% satisfied and am very receptive to feedback and suggestions. I like to take a collaborative approach to all my projects. Once the final artwork is completed, I send digital files formatted to suit the usage of the artwork.
Along with my hourly service fee there is also a license fee for permission to use the artwork that is created. This is standard for illustration and is calculated based on the scope of the project, the size of the client and the duration of usage. All of this needs to be clarified in the beginning contract phase.
I look forward to hearing from you!
